LOGAN COUNTY LAND ENTRIES

Sheryl McClure, who has no ancestors or relatives in Logan County, has generously donated transcriptions from Judge Stringer's 1911 History of Logan County to Logan County ILGenWeb.

The land entries list the name and date for the original purchaser of land from the government. The land purchase date is not the date the person settled in Logan County. There may be five years or more between the time a person settled and the time the paperwork on the land was completed and recorded.



Below will be found a complete list of individuals entering land in Logan County, from the time of first settlement, as shown by the government records, with the year when claim was filed and fee paid. Claimant's names are noted only in the year when first entry was made. Where claimants made successive entries in different subsequent years, the name is not duplicated. The various townships were not created until 1865, but the present township name is here used, for convenience sake, in place of the township and range number. The entries were as follows:
