Henry Franklin "Hank" Buckles

MOUNT PULASKI - Henry Franklin "Hank" Buckles, 80, of Mount Pulaski died 3:20 p.m. Friday (Oct. 20, 2006) in Vonderlieth Living Center, Mount Pulaski. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Pulaski Christian Church with the Rev. J.T. Thomason officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski. Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski. Memorials: Mount Pulaski Christian Church or American Legion Post 447.

Mr. Buckles was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Mount Pulaski, the son of Leroy Keith Buckles Sr. and Helen Frances Copeland Buckles. He was a lifelong farmer and an avid Cubs fan. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and his pinochle club. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion Post 447 and retired president of the Steenbergen Cemetery Board. He was affiliated with Mount Pulaski Christian Church. He was the last of his immediate family. He married Irma Jean Baker on Feb. 26, 1950, in Chestnut.

Surviving are his wife; sons, John Buckles, Franklin (Brenda) Buckles and Andrew Buckles, all of Mount Pulaski; James Buckles of Springfield; daughter, Mary Jane (Floyd) Yeck Jr. of Springfield; grandchildren, Jeremy and Cassandra Buckles, Brooke and Bridget Buckles, Michael, Matthew and Amanda Yeck. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, L.K. Buckles Jr.; and sister, Marilyn Durchholz.
