Sudden Death of Ferdinand Giese

The many relatives and friends of Ferdinand F. A. Giese, for years a resident of the New Holland neighborhood, were shocked when they heard of his sudden death which occurred Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Mr. Giese walked to the mail box, which is a quarter of a mile form the house. He was gone an unusual length of time and his folks becoming alarmed went to see where he was. His daughter found him lying near the mail box. She raised him up trying to revive him but he had already passed away. Coroner C.B. Taylor of Lincoln was called and ascertained that his death was due to acute dilation of the heart.

Mr. Giese was born in Germany February 6, 1857, and passed away Friday, September 8, 1922, at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 2 days. He came to this country and lived in this state for the past twenty-seven years.

Mr. Giese was married in Ger-many to Friedericka Buse in 1884. To this union were born five children, as follows, William of New Holland, Mrs. Anna Laughery of Mt. Pulaski, Bertha Giese, Mrs. Frieda Koester and Mrs. Minnie Utech of New Holland.

The deceased was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church and the funeral was held Sunday, September 10, at the New Holland Lutheran church, Rev. M. H. A. Guemmer officiating. Burial was made at the Richmond Grove cemetery.
