Merle Liesman

Merle L. Liesman, 75 of Atlanta died at 2:25 a.m. St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Born Dec 14, 1924, in rural Lincoln to Harold L. and Emily E. Johnson Liesman, he married Mary V. Martin on Feb 28, 1947 in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Larry and Mary Sue Liesman of Atlanta, two sisters, Marilyn and Ed Bevard of Cherokee, Iowa and Diane Liesman of Washington D.C.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of Lincoln American Legion 40 & 8 and Lincoln Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a farmer all his life and retired from CILCO in Lincoln.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at his church. The Rev. Mark D. Carnahan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Roaches Chapel Cemetery in rural Atlanta, with military rites by Lincoln American Legion Post 263.

Memorials may be made to his church or the National Parkinson's Foundation.
