CALEB F. LUCAS

Caleb F. Lucas, son of Thomas Lucas and Mary Buckles, was born Feb. 11, 1854, and passed away to his last rest Saturday, June 30, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clara's Hospital, Lincoln, Ill., having reached the age of 69 years, 4 months, and 19 days. Mr. Lucas had been seriously ill about two months, and all that loving care and medical skill could do was of no avail.

In 1876 Mr. Lucas was united in marriage to Mary E. Muldoon, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Muldoon, and to this union was born one daughter, Dora Z., wife of H. P. Frisch, who, with the wife survives to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father. He is also survived by one half-sister, Mrs. Angie Van Hook, and one half-brother, Elias Copeland, both of Metz, Mo.

Mr. Lucas spent the greater part of his life on the home farm, four miles south of Mt. Pulaski, Ill., but in 1908 retired from farm life and, with his wife, moved to this city where he has since resided. He was a lover of home and was most contented with home surroundings and the companionship of family, neighbors, and friends.

Mr. Lucas formed close ties of friendship with his associates and by them he will be greatly missed.

An added sorrow on this occasion for the bereaved family is the absence of the son-in-law, Mr. Homer Frisch, who is ill at St. Clara's Hospital and unable to be present.

Funeral services were held at the family residence on South Spring Street at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, conducted by Rev. T. T. Holten of Bloomington, Ill., assisted by Rev. Charles S. Bream.

The pallbearers were Frank Copeland, Sam Gasaway, Robert Buckles, Shelby Curtis, George Lucas, and John Rothwell, all cousins of the deceased. Interment was made in Mt. Pulaski cemetery.

Elias Copeland, a half-brother, of Metz, Mo., was present but his half-sister, Angie Van Hook, was unable to be present on account of sickness.
