Harry A. Menzel Succumbs; Rites To be Wednesday

Henry August Menzel, 71, of 1319 E. Broadway, died at 3:22 a.m. Monday in Deaconess hospital. Several weeks ago he had suffered a strike. The deceased was employed for 25 years by the Central Illinois Electrical and Gas company.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Hargrove officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery. Friends may meet the family at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Mr. Menzel was born Nov. 22, 1878 in Germany and came to this city when seven years old. His parents were Henry and Caroline Maletzki Menzel and they are deceased. His marriage to Maude Swingle took place in Lincoln, Sept. 2, 1900, and she survives as do the following children: Donald Menzel of Atlanta; Lewis Menzel, Mrs. Louise Sandel, Mrs. Inez Broughton, all of Lincoln; two brothers, Oscar Menzel of Chicago; Fred Menzel of Bloomington; and a sister, Mrs. Freda Adkins of Springfield. Two children, Henry and Buster; two brothers, Avil and William; and a sister, Matilda, preceded him in death. There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Menzel was a member of Lincoln Lodge of I.O.O.F. and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
