The 1855 Illinois Census of Logan County was transcribed by Donna Copeland from a photocopy made from the microfilm of the original census held in State Archives. This should NOT be considered an original source document although every effort was made to transcribe the original accurately and completely. The photocopy is now available for viewing at the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society. Researchers may compare that copy with this transcription if desired.
The 1855 State Census recorded name of heads of household but did not list the names of all members of the household. It is useful, along with the 1850 Federal Census and 1860 Federal Census, for pinning down when a person arrived or left the county or died. Other information that may be useful in connection with these documents are the 1850 Mortality Census and the 1860 Mortality Census.
Please note this document is a series of connected spreadsheets. All pages may require scrolling left and right or up and down or both. The first page is an index. Please note that even if your ancestor's name was spelled incorrectly by the census taker we will not correct it in these pages.
