CARLYLE CEMETERY
Carlyle Cemetery is located north of Lake Fork, Illinois. Turn north off of Route 54 to Logan County 9 (1300th Ave) and drive about one mile.
The cemetery is entered from the south. The section to the left or west is Section C. Sections A + B are to the right or east. B is the one farthest south, leaving A to the one farthest north. Section A contains the oldest graves. The rows are listed left to right when facing the west. Row one is the closest to the fields in Sections A + B. In Section C, Row one is the closest to the road. The letter stands for the section, the first number is the row, and the last number is the position in the row.
As one enters the cemetery, a stone with the following inscription stands on the corner of Section B:
"You can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth. Erected in 1988 by Manley Monuments in memory of Dean Manley."
Another stone reads: "These trees were place in 1990 with donations by: M/M Don Manley, Mrs. Dean Manley, M/M Pat Manley, M/M James Nelson, M/M Eugene Collins, M/M Sheridan Blankenship, M/M Wayne Stratton, Mrs. Eva Duncan, M/M David Collins, Mrs. Aubrey Burton, Mrs. Robert Brickey, Mrs. Lucinda Brickey Chapman."
Please keep in mind some of these stones are very difficult to read, and we tried to be as accurate as possible.
Recorded by Mary Ann Radtke, 2000.
