Funeral services for L. K. Buckles, Sr., of Mt. Pulaski, who was killed in an accident Thursday afternoon when the pick-up truck he was driving was struck by an Illinois Central railroad train at the Mt. Pulaski crossing, will be at the Schahl Funeral Home, Mt. Pulaski, at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Steenbergen cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Saturday at the Schahl Funeral Home. The death was the fifth on the Logan County roads this year.
Buckles was born in Mt. Pulaski township Nov. 17, 1892, the son of Henry and Jennie Buckles. He married Helen Copeland in Chicago, and she survives along with two sons, Henry Frank and L. K. Buckles, Jr., Mt. Pulaski, and one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Durchholz, Mt. Pulaski. There are nine grandchildren. Buckles was a veteran of World War I and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Pulaski American Legion and the Modern Woodmen.
