EZEKIEL HINTON DOWNEY

" Ezekiel Hinton Downey, for the past thirty years a resident of this county where he has resided with his children since the death of his wife, died at the home of his son, George Tillman Downey, 203 Fifth Street, Lincoln, Logan Co. IL, at 3:30 P.M. Sunday. He was born in Rushville, Indiana, Dec. 14, 1837, passing away at the advanced age of 87 years. He had spent most of his time at Chestnut, IL. He was married to Mary Ann Jones 27 March 1860 in Rush Co. Indiana. She preceded him in death more than thirty years. To this marriage were born six children, one of whom, Effie May, died at the age of eleven years. The surviving children are: Ella Hetherington, Milwaukee, Wis.; George T. Downey, Lincoln; James A. Downey, Onawa, IA; John O. Downey, Peoria, IL, and Oscar F. Downey, Chestnut, IL. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Fleener and Mrs. Mary Bogue, Rushville, Indiana. The decedent was a member of the Christian Church. The Odd Fellows, with which the deceased was affiliated, will have charge of the services at the grave in Laenna Cemetery."
