FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD FOR J. E. HAMMON

Funeral services for J. E. Hammon, who died Friday at his home in Loomis, were held Monday from the Baker Funeral Home in Holdrege at ten o’clock. Reverend C.I. Coates officiated and burial was made in the Industry Cemetery.

Joseph E. Hammon was born on December 22, 1852 at Findlay, Ohio. He died at the home of his daughter in Loomis, December 18, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 25 days. At the age of 4 years he moved to Springfield, Illinois. On February 24, 1875, he was married to Lucinda Allen at Mt Pulaski, Illinois. To this union six children were born, four of whom survive. A son, Claude died in 1895 and a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Halgren passed away last June. The surviving children are Clara Johnston of Loomis, Frank Hammon of Atlanta, Ardell Hammon of Chicago and Florence Rimmer of Chicago. There are also 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

In 1880 the family immigrated to Colorado where they lived for six months, returning to Loomis on October 11, 1880 where they lived until 1900 when they moved to Atlanta. In 1936 he returned to Loomis where he has since made his home. His wife preceded him in death in 1925. Mr Hammon was a man of very kindly disposition, friendly and neighborly, highly esteemed by those who knew him.
