MRS. EMMA J. KOEHLER

Mrs. Emma J. Koehler, 69 died Thursday morning at 5:45 at her home in Washington, Iowa. She been bedfast for five weeks prior to her death.

Emma J. Mammen, daugther of Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Mammen, was born in Germany on December 20, 1870, and came to this country when she was 14 years old, the family locating in LOGAN COUNTY, ILL. She married here on July 17, 1890 to Juergen Koehler, and they resided on a farm in this community until 1905 when they moved to a farm three and one- half miles east of Washington, Iowa.

Twenty years ago they retired and moved to Washington, where they resided ever since. Mr. Koehler died June 16 , 1938, and Mrs. Koehler had continued to live in their home. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are four daughters and two sons; John H. Koehler, Wray, Colorado, Mrs. Lee Chambers of Sigourney, Ia. Mrs. Logan Ahrens, Mrs. Clark Hopping, Mrs. Charles Gault and Menint Koehler, all of near Washington, Ia, two brothers, George Mammen, Chillicothe, Mo., and C.G. Mammen, Emdem; twenty grandchildren and one great-grandson. A son, Martin Koehler, died in 1927.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Jones funeral home in Washington with Dr. R.C. Keagy of the Methodist church in charge. Burial was in Elm Grove Cem.

Those from this vicinity who attended funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Mammen and Bernice, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reiners, Mr. and Mrs. Haink Miller, Mrs. T.U. Rademaker, Mrs. Dan Coers, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Brenneman, Mr. and Mrs. Albert F. Reiners, Alva Mammen and Leonard and Roy Mammen.
