ORAN PHILLIPS, 78, DIED IN LINCOLN

Oran Phillips of 222 10th St., Lincoln, Ill., died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 16, 1953, in the St. Clara's hospital in that city. After farming for some time in the Elkhart area he retired about 25 years ago and located in Lincoln. He was the last of the Phillips family.

Mr. Phillips was born Jan. 1, 1875, in Elkhart vicinity, a son of Joseph and Mary Jane Lawrence Phillips. In Springfield Oct. 3, 1932, he married Miss Lucy Bowers of Mount Pulaski. He was a member of First Christian church, Lincoln, and had served as a member of the board of trustees and church treasurer. He had been an active member of the Men's Bible Class.

Decedent is survived by his wife. His parents, one sister and one brother, preceded him in death.

The body was removed to the Wright funeral home, Lincoln. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church, Lincoln, conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. H. Appel. Burial was in the Elkhart cemetery.
