ELIZABETH RUWE

Athens – Elizabeth J. Ruwe, 73 of Athens, formerly of Lincoln, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. Warren Turner and the Rev. Gordon Clary officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral Home, Petersburg. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service Friday.

She was born Nov. 24, 1905, in Lynn County, Mo., the daughter of Scott and Dora J. Spencer Brown. She married Harold Ruwe in 1942 in Lincoln. He died in 1969.

Surviving are five sisters, Theo Ishmael, Trenton, Mo.; Effie McCurdy, Bakersfield, Calif.; Iva Bryant, in California; Lillie Hoffert, Athens; and Hazel Pedigo, Colfax; two brothers, Frank Brown, Brookfield, Mo.; and Thomas Brown, Riverton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Petersburg.

She was formerly employed at Lincoln Developmental Center.
