Lydia E. Scroggin Died On Sunday

Mrs. Lydia E. Scroggin, widow of William Scroggin, died of pneumonia at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in her home in Cornland. She was born at Athens, Ohio, February 12, 1854, and would have reached her 81st birthday on February 12th. She came to Illinois in 1870 and has lived in Cornland nearly 40 years. Her husband died some 15 years ago.

She leaves three daughters, Mrs. John Ostermeier, Mechanicsburg, Mrs. W. T. Smith, and Mrs. Jessie Costello of Cornland.

The body remained in the Hershey funeral home until late Monday afternoon when it was taken to the family home.

Funeral services were held at the Cornland Christian at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hedrick, of Buffalo. The burial was made in Steenbergen cemetery, four miles southwest of Mt. Pulaski. The pallbearers were Alva Haynes, John Melvin, Alvin Day, Thomas Phares, Dana Brachear, and George Criland, all of Cornland.
