Delavan Tri-County, September 4, 1912

James Short

Mr. James Short died Sunday, Sept. 1, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Gemberling, at the age of 78 years, five months and twenty-eight days. (b. 7 Mar., 1834) His wife preceded him in death last year. The deceased was born in Virginia, but spent the better part of his life on the farm near Emden. He suffered for years with palsy and the past year grew steadily weaker. To mourn his departure are his daughter, Mrs. Mary Gemberling and one son, Monteville Short, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Rev. Wahl preached the funeral sermon at the home. Interment in Bethel Cemetery.
