Sarah Martha Short, daughter of Thomas and Amanda was born in Logan county, March 22 1879, and departed this life in Logan county, Dec 15, 1937, at the age of 58 years, 8 months and 23 days.

At an early age she moved with her parents to Boynton township, Tazewell county. She untied with the Boynton Methodist church in July 1904 of which she was a faithful member. On August 18, 1906, she was united in marriage with Roy W. Hodson of Hopedale. They made their home on a farm in Boynton township several years, then moved to their present home in Hopedale.

Besides here husband and daughter, Mrs. Marjore Smith of Tremont, she is survived by a sister Dollie of Detroit, Mich., and three brothers, Al and George of Emden, and Joe of Delavan.

The funeral was held in the Hopedale Methodist church at 1:00 p.m. Friday with Re. Gross of Easton in charge assisted by Rev. McBroom of Hopedale. Miss Emma Hussman and Miss Mildred Mauer sang two selections. The pallbearers were George Betzelberger, C.C. Reardon, John Steiger, Ben Maurer, Edgar Brenneman and G. Davidson. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
