Harry Lowell Sutton, 70, a pottery worker 24 years, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday at the family residence, 211 S. Hamilton St. He had been in declining health for a number of months.
He was born Dec. 13, 1877 in Newtonville, Ind., a son of R.W. Sutton and Eleanor Sargent Sutton, both of whom are deceased. His marriage to Susie E. Moore took place Feb. 9, 1901 at Newtonville, Ind., and they came to Lincoln 30 years ago. [Note: father's name was actually A.W.]
Surviving are his wife and the following children:John A. Sutton, Valparaiso, Ind.; Mrs. Evelyn Kingsley, Mrs. Wahneta Tucker, Mrs. Mary Hart, and Mrs. Ella Ruth Graham of Lincoln and Harry H. Sutton of Evansville, Ind. One daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Worth, died in 1929. There are 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Three brothers and two sisters also survive:Ben Sutton of Rockport, Ind.; Claude Sutton of Dearborn, Mich.; Lonnie Sutton of Newtonville, Ind.; Mrs. Ida McDaniel of Evansville, Ind. and Mrs. Fannie Edwards of Newtonville, Ind.; Three brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Sutton was a member of Lincoln Christian church and an elder on the church board. He was affiliated with Lincoln Lodge No. 210, A.F. and A.M. The body will be taken from Wright Funeral home to the family residence Wednesday afternoon to remain until the hour of the service. The funeral will be at 2p.m. Friday at Lincoln Christian church with Rev. E.C. Hargrove pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery.
