W. VANDEVENTER OF MT. PULASKI DIES

William Henry Vandevender, a Civil War veteran and life-long resident of Logan county, passed away at 4:20 o'clock Thursday afternoon, May 15, at his home, three and one-half miles northwest of Mt. Pulaski.

Mr. Vandevender was born in Chester township February 24, 1852, and died at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 21 days. He was married in Lincoln, Ill., November 24, 1871. to Miss Emma Isabel Vail, who survives with the following children:Mrs. J. M. O'Brien, Chestnut, IL; Mrs. Frank Harless, Decatur, Ill., Mrs. Clara Laughery, Chestnut; Mrs. Claude Anderson, Union City, Ind; Mrs. Herman Kinert and Harrison Vandevender, Mt. Pulaski and Howard and Nelle Vandevender, residing at home.

The funeral services will take place Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Christian Church in Mount Pulaski, with Rev. S. R. Reynolds in charge. Burial will be made in the Mt. Pulaski cemetery.

W. H. Vandevender, Aged Logan Co Resident Dies

After eighty-two years of residence in Logan county, William Henry Vandevender died at his home - three and one-half miles southwest of Mt. Pulaski at 4:20 pm., Thursday, May 15, 1924. Decedent had been ill for two years and death was expected. Demise was due to a complication of diseases and came at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 21 days.

The decedent was born in Chester township, Feb. 24, 1842. He had followed the occupation of farming during his life up to a few years ago, when he retired from active life, but remained at the home where he had lived for so many years. On Nov. 24, 1871, he was married to Emma Isabel Vail, at Lincoln. The widow survives him. Mr. Vandevender was a Civil War veteran and a member of Sam Walker G A R, Mt. Pulaski.

Besides the widow, Mr. Vandevender leaves the following children to mourn his death: Mrs. J M O'Brien, Chestnut; Mrs. Frank Harless, Decatur; Mrs. Clara Laughery, Chestnut; Mrs. Claude Anderson, Union City, IN; Mrs. Herman Kinert, Mt Pulaski; Harrison Vandevender, Mt. Pulaski; and Howard and Nelle Vandevender at home.

Funeral services for the deceased will be held at the Christian church in Mt. Pulaski at 2:30 pm., Saturday, May 17, with Rev. S. R. Reynolds in charge. Interment will be in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery.
