The following is a transcription of a 2 + 1/2 column article from The Lincoln Times dated November 7, 1882. The "Complete List"... numbers 427 men who served in the Civil War. There were a few areas that were difficult to read due to bleed through from the other side at the time of the filming. I have given this my best shot and a lot of time. I have compared many of the names with both the 1880 US Fed. Census index for Logan County and the Illinois Civil War veterans searchable database linked from the Logan Civil War page.
Please note this is a transcription. I do not know why some had their full name cited, while others only have their last name and initials. I used some editorial
license by sorting the list alphabetically, including the residence "post-office," and listing the service for each. - Ron Spahr
One of the prominent features of our county fair was the soldiers' reunion. From various parts of this and other states a large number came together to talk of
by-gone days, when wearing the knap sack and carrying the musket was to endure hardship at a sacrifice of great privations; to talk of those days and renew that
endearing fellowship which keeps company to a warm heart, and brings a loyal flush when two soldier-veterans meet. It refers to nearly twenty years ago, when
we laid down our arms, and the object and victory was gained of a terrible conflict. Those who were among us were then young men. Today their hairs are gray,
and to assemble in reunion gives a pleasure only to be appreciated by those concerned. The gathering at our fair grounds was a pleasant and admired feature,
which will be remembered many days to come. Speeches made on the occasion by Gen. John A. McClernand, Capt. J.H. Rowell, and Maj. M. Wemple, were well
received. Following are the names, with present address, together with company, regiment and service, of the soldiers who attended the reunion here last
Wednesday and Thursday. Names without post-office denote Lincoln:
