In the name of God, Amen. I, John HOUGH of the county of Logan and State of Illinois, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament. That is to say,
First, all my lawful debts are paid and discharged. The residue of my estate, real and personal I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows, to wit;
To Hamilton HOUGH, two hundred dollars, to Jackson HOUGH, five dollars, to James HOUGH, two hundred dollars, to Charles HOUGH, two hundred dollars, to the heirs of my son John HOUGH, three hundred dollars, to be loaned at interest ‘till they become of age. I have paid Mason HOUGH his portion, to Samuel HOUGH his portion, to George HOUGH, his portion, to Lydia R. HOWARD, her portion. I give to Valentine HOUGH, five dollars.
Likewise, I made, constitute and appoint Benjamin HOWARD and Samuel HOUGH my executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In witness and to here of I have here unto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 28th day of August in the year of our Lord 1865.
The above written instrument was subscribed by the said John Hough in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us and he at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament and we at the testators request, and in his presence have signed our names as witnesses here to and written opposite our names our respective places of residence
