Lucas Chapel was in Lucas Chapel Cemetery in Corwin Township. This picture was taken about 1960 by contributor Jean Pyle, shortly before the building was demolished. The bell in the tower was operated by a long rope on a pulley setup. The bell is still in the cemetery. The Lucases were among the early residents of Logan County with various family members settling in Mt. Pulaski and Lake Fork Townships and the Rocky Ford area of Corwin Township. |
Rocky Ford Mill was located on Salt Creek in Corwin Township at the area known as Rocky Ford. In this old picture, believed to have been taken in the early 1900s, you can see that the mill had long been abandoned. It is believed to have been built in the 1830s. In 1851 it was sold Edmund Rankin and became known as Rankin's Mill at Rocky Ford. |
